DirectionsOnWeb's service which also provides yearly Visita Iglesia routes takes you to the summer capital. We have in our list seven Catholic Churches located in different parts of Baguio City. In giving this year's Visita Iglesia route which put all churches together in a sequence, I have taken into consideration the following factors: Your time - I know you are in a vacation but still would like to do penance so I arrange the route in best sequence I could create. Your energy - Since it's uphill and downhill roads there, I only suggest walk through the downhill but you can still walk your way on uphill roads, but I make sure that there are jeepney routes to take whenever you change your mind. Your last church - Baguio Cathedral is placed as the seventh church of our visita iglesia so that you will be immediately nearer to restaurants, fast foods, malls, etc right after your church visits. With this guide that I made, you don't need a map to get to each church. Simply follow the simple directions.

Quick Glance of Visita Iglesia Routes

First destination is a church beautifully erected in a pastoral setting, making it an ideal place to visit this Holy Week.

As we return to the city, we would visit the church by the Burnham Park afterwhich we would go to two churches, respectively, in one route.

Back in Baguio Plaza, we will walk or take a jeepney to our fifth and sixth churches. You have two options here on which one would go ahead of the other. I will explain later in the directional guide. It depends on how you would want to go there - by ride or by walk.

Lastly, we will hop a jeepney and alight in front of Baguio Cathedral for our last church to visit.

Baguio City Visita Iglesia Routes & Directions

First Church - Holy Family Parish Church

The significance of this church for vacationists that are also wanting to observe the Holy Week is its location. A bit far from the city proper, it is built on the small valley which is also at the crossroad. Picture this: a huge church, albeit modern, with its roof tower protruding into the air backdrop by a pastoral view of tropical mountains. Once there, you'll climb down the concrete steps to the sprawling land of the church.

How to get to Holy Family Church

The route of jeepney that you must take in going to Holy Family Church is "Baguio Plaza-Bakakeng VV." The terminal is located at Burnham Park terminal which is situated right at the foot of stairs of the huge pedestrian overpass crossing Harrison Rd. It's just opposite Hotel Veniz and right beside Igorot Garden. Jeepneys there are headed to different directions. The Bakakeng bound jeepneys occupy the first slot which is nearer to pedestrian overpass and Harrison Rd.

You can ask the driver to drop you off there but to help you out, here's the tip: The jeepney takes Bakakeng Norte Rd which is at the other side of Marcos Highway. This means that the road after Marcos Highway is Bakakeng Norte. Holy Family Church is located at the other end of winding Bakakeng Norte Rd. But the jeepney will turn left onto a very downhill road perpendicular to Bakakeng Norte Rd. That's because majority of the locals are headed down there which is the community of the barangay. You must get off the jeepney before it goes down that downhill path. The downhill road is called Bakakeng Sur Rd. Their barangay hall is located at the corner of Bakakeng Norte Rd and Bakakeng Sur Rd. That means you are actually alighting at the barangay hall. You might as well tell the driver to drop you off at the barangay hall. Now on the ground, walk further along the extension of Bakakeng Norte and in a flash you'll see the church as it immaculately appears as if God suddenly painted a gate of His kingdom and turned it into reality for you to enter. It is just so amazing that after a winding and a bit of bumpy ride, you'll see a worship place that I might say different from it's surrounding structures. You'll feel solemnity in that area even as you approach the church and looking at it from the distance. The sign that reads "Holy Family Parish" is conspicuously erected before the church. You get to see it first.

How to return to Baguio Plaza

Baguio Plaza is what they refer to the city proper of Baguio. You will wait for the same jeepney that will be coming from below of Bakakeng Sur Rd. The jeepney makes U-turn down there and climbs up Bakakeng Sur on its way back to Baguio Plaza via Bakakeng Norte Rd. Wait at the corner or the Barangay Hall. There are also times that the jeepney that climbs Bakakeng Sur Rd stops at Bakakeng Norte to transfer the passengers it picks up below onto a waiting another jeepney near the barangay hall. Take a look if a jeepney is being filled up there and ride. If none, ride one that climbs from Bakakeng Sur.

Second Church - Our Lady of Lourdes Parish

The jeepney from Holy Family Parish Church is now in Baguio City. You don't need to wait until it arrives at the terminal. Most passengers alight at Harrison Rd which is the road that bounded Burnham Park to the northeast. Our Lady of Lourdes Church is located at Kisad Rd, which is the opposite of Harrison Rd. Kisad Rd bounded Burnham Park to the southwest. You can get to Our Lady of Lourdes Church from Harrison Rd by walking across the entire Burnham Park. That means you will get across the football field and the Burnham Lake. Once you reached Kisad Rd, walk along the fenced edge of Burnham Park. Your landmark is the City Travel Hotel, a mammoth hotel with its sign visible from afar. Next to it is Our Lady of Lourdes Church which is under major restoration as of this writing. But even if the church is under construction, they have their Holy Week Schedule 2014 in placed. See pic at left.





Third Church - Saint Joseph The Worker Parish

Located at Pacdal Circle, you wouldn't have a hard time in getting to this church. It is in the same route as the fourth church. Here's how to get to St Joseph The Worker Church from Our Lady of Lourdes. Go back to Harrison Road by walking across Burnham Lake and Malvin Jones Football Ground. Note: There's an opening in the fencing of Burnham Park opposite Our Lady of Lourdes, you can use that gate and walk downhill to the park and walk by the side of the lake, cross Lake Dr, the road between Burnham Park and the football ground, walk across the field towards the stadium exit to Harrison Road. If the opening is closed, you can take Shanum St which leads to the pedestrian overpass that crosses Harrison Rd.

How to get to Saint Joseph The Worker Church

Cross Harrison Rd. Wait for a jeepney with "Baguio Plaza - Liteng" signs on its both sides and "Liteng' in the front. There are two ways these jeepneys serve the public - Express and Transfer. Express means once you ride in Harrison Rd, the jeepney will go all the way to Liteng. Transfer is my own word to describe it when this jeepney enters its terminal and stand in line with other jeepneys of this route. Here's a tip: This is how I done it when I got tired of walking. I asked the driver if he's "Express" and when he said "No", I requested to ride and would alight at the terminal, and he allowed me. Usually, Express has a lot of passengers on board while "Transfer" has a few if no passengers.

Assuming you need to transfer, this is what you do. The jeepney turns right onto Magsaysay Ave from Harrison. It drives past Session Rd and then turns right onto small street next to the corner of Session Rd and Magsaysay Ave. Actually it stops as soon as it enters so that all remaining passengers can alight. Get off the jeepney there and walk along Magsaysay Ave forward until you get to the next street where you will immediately see jeepney queues on both sides. The one in the front is "Baguio Plaza-Navy" and next to it is the "Baguio Plaza-Liteng" but usually you have to wait until one has arrived. There's also a barker assisting the passengers, pointing which "Liteng" jeepney is next in line. The jeepney from which you alighted a while ago gets around the buildings and line up with other jeepneys in the queue.

Once full, the jeepney turns right onto Magsaysay Ave and immediately turns right again onto the next street which is Gen Luna. After taking different uphill, downhill and winding road of Gen Luna, the jeepney turns left onto Leonard Wood Road where Gen Luna ends. It takes the whole stretch of Leonard Wood which ends in Pacdal Circle. The jeepney turns right onto Pacdal Circle and gets around it and then turns right onto the last exit road from the circle. You have two options of getting off the jeepney: at the corner of Leonard Wood and Pacdal Cirlce before the jeepney turns right or wait until the jeepney makes the complete pass in Pacdal Circle and alight as it turns right onto the exit road. If you alight at the corner of Leonard Wood Rd and Pacdal Circle, cross Leonard Wood and walk up ahead. The church is located at the other corner of Leonard Wood Rd and Pacdal Circle. If you alight after the jeepney has encircled the roundabout, you will immediately see the gate of St Joseph The Worker church.

Fourth Church - Pink Sisters Convent

The location of Pink Sisters Convent is along the route of "Baguio Plaza-Liteng" jeepneys. It is near the corner of Gen Luna and Leonard Wood where the jeepney have previously turned left on its way to Pacdal Circle. Leonard Wood and Gen Luna is a junction of three roads. The third road is Brent which is at the middle of the corner of Gen Luna and Leonard Wood. The road signs that read "Brent Rd" is conspicuously erected along Leonard Wood pointing to where it is located. Pink Sisters Convent is located at Brent Rd, a stone's throw away from the corner of Gen Luna and Leonard Wood. Get off the jeepney at Brent Rd road sign or anywhere near it and walk down this street. You will immediately see the sign of "Pink Sisters Convent." The church is located inside a compound hidden by trees. It's an exclusive surrounding there with big houses inside big compounds along both sides of Brent. The vicinity is fitted for the convent to be where it should be.

How to return to Baguio Plaza

Ride the same jeepney (Baguio Plaza-Liteng) and alight at Harrison Rd.

Fifth & Sixth Churches - Saint John Bosco Parish & Immaculate Concepcion Church

I will present to you two ways of getting to these churches - by jeepney rides or by merely walk. Some of us observe Holy Week by doing some penances, don't we? The most popular among them is walking either barefoot or with slippers/shoes on. Doing this partly during Visita Iglesia in Baguio City would be quite an experience.

Walk

If you're going to walk, then do not alight from "Baguio Plaza-Liteng" jeepney that you have ridden from Pink Sisters Convent at Harrison Rd. Wait until the jeepney reach its terminal or if it's Express alight once the jeepney turns right onto Gen Luna. Walk the entire stretch of Magsaysay Ave forward from there all the way to its other end where a rotunda with sculpture at the center is located. Don't look for any landmark. Just remember its a rotunda with sculpture at the middle. Also Saint Louis University is located at the corner of Magsaysay Ave and the road on the right of the rotunda onto which you're going to turn. That road is Bonifacio St. Turn right onto Bonifacio St but you must at the left side because you will go down the road that slopes down from the left of Bonifacio. Just remember, after turning right onto Bonifacio from Magsaysay Ave, immediately go down the road that goes downhill from the left of Bonifacio St. That road is called Rimando Road. You can read the road sign at the junction - take the direction of Rimando written on the road sign.

In downhill Rimando, immediately turn left onto the perpendicular road. You might think that Rimando Rd goes straight and the road perpendicular to its left is another street. But actually the perpendicular road is the continuation of Rimando Rd. That's why all jeepneys would also turn left onto that road that swerved to the left. Walk down the sloping Rimando past Baguio Church of Christ/Phil Bible College (right hand side of Rimando) until you get to the first 4-way intersection or a crossroad. There's a 7-eleven store at the left corner of this intersection. The road that crosses Rimando is Manuel Roxas St. Turn left onto Manuel Roxas St and walk down the whole stretch up to the location of your fourth church - Saint John Bosco Parish also known as Don Bosco Catholic Church. Here's how to locate it. Just remember, from Rimando Rd, walk along Manuel Roxas St past the only one perpendicular road to the right of Manuel Roxas St. Because the next road perpendicular to the right of Manuel Roxas is the uphill road that goes to Saint John Bosco Church aka Don Bosco. There's also a dilapidated sign that reads "Don Bosco" and an arrow sign at the corner of Manuel Roxas and the uphill road to Don Bosco Church. You will immediately see the church as you climb the road.

After your church visit at Don Bosco, go back to Rimando the way you came to Don Bosco. Now, continue your walk along Rimando Rd which from this point on is in uphill direction. It easy to locate the next church. Just remember that the uphill Rimando Rd you're climbing now is in straight line with very slight of swerving. The moment Rimando Rd makes a sharp right turn or it swerves to the right in 90 degrees, at the end of that road is the Immaculate Concepcion Church, exactly before Rimando turns left again.

After your visit at the sixth church which is Immaculate Concepcion on this Baguio Visita Iglesia with walk route, you would probably opt to ride a jeepney in going to the last church that would complete the seven churches. Don't worry it would be very easy to take a jeepney to your seventh church. But before that let me guide you on how to go to your fifth and sixth churches by jeepney rides.

Ride

As I have said, you will take "Baguio Plaza-Liteng" jeepney from Pink Sisters Convent. The jeepney will pass through Harrison Rd again. Alight anywhere in Harrison Rd then wait for another jeepney. This time the jeepney route that you must take is "Baguio Plaza-Aurora Hill VV."

Like "Baguio Plaza-Liteng" jeepneys, "Baguio Plaza-Aurora Hill" jeepneys pass through Harrison Rd. So, just go to a loading area along Harrison Rd and ride an Aurora Hill bound jeepney. If you are nearer to any intersection of Harrison Rd, i.e., Cladio St and Mabini St, wait for traffic lights to turn red and ride a "Baguio Plaza-Aurora Hill" jeepney that stops in red signal. Just tell the driver that your destination is Immaculate Conception Church or "Simbahan ng Immaculate Concepcion." It takes the whole route of walking direction that I have mentioned earlier. But with this jeepney ride, you wont stop at Manual Roxas. Let the jeepney take Rimando Rd all the way to Immaculate Church, that would be your fifth church this time. Just remember, after the downhill direction of Rimando Rd, it will go uphill after crossing Manuel Roxas. And after an almost straight line, Rimando will make a sharp right turn. You must alight at the end of the road after that sharp right turn. You will immediately see Immaculate Concepcion Parish Church there. A big sign that reads "Immaculate Concepcion Parish" is attached to the building at the corner.

After your visit at Immaculate Concepcion, ride a jeepney with the same route. There are lots of them at the opposite lane of Rimado Rd. Alight at the corner of Manuel Roxas St. Ride another jeepney that turns left onto Manuel Roxas from Rimando Rd. The route of the jeepneys that serve Don Bosco Church from city proper is "Baguio Plaza-Trancoville VV." That's the sign of jeepney you must ride. Ask driver to drop you off at Don Bosco Church or count the perpendicular roads to the right of Manuel Roxas. The second perpendicular road is where you must alight. Once there, walk uphill to get to the church.

Going back to Immaculate Concepcion walk route, either walk down the Rimando Rd until you get to Manuel Roxas or ride a jeepney with "Baguio Plaza-Aurora Hill" sign and alight at Manuel Roxas for your next ride to your seventh and last church.

Seventh Church - Baguio Cathedral

The jeepney that will take you to the frontage of Our Lady of Atonement most popularly known as Baguio Cathedral straight from Saint John Bosco Parish is the one with "Baguio Plaza-Trancoville" route written on both sides of the jeepney. Simply go down from Don Bosco Church back to Manuel Roxas St and ride one of many jeepneys that pass through both opposite lanes. Cross Manuel Roxas first so that your direction will be toward the city proper.

If your sixth church is Immaculate Concepcion Parish, ride a jeepney from there. The sign of jeepney is "Baguio Plaza-Aurora Hill." Alight at the corner of Manuel Roxas St and ride a "Baguio Plaza-Trancoville" jeepney.

After passing through series of downhill and uphill winding roads, the jeepney will pass by the Baguio Cathedral right before it turns left onto the busy and wider Session Road. You will see the cathedral at the right before the corner of Session Rd. The name of that small one way downhill road in front of Baguio Cathedral is Fr Carlu St. Just look at the right of the road always so that you get to see the cathedral once the jeepney gets on that area.

How to get to Dinosaur Island & Holy Land

Two newest attractions for vacationists and tourists arriving at Baguio City have opened their doors to the public. From now on, visiting the summer capital wouldn't be complete without setting foot on the 32-hectare major attraction built on a mountain side of Tuba, Benguet, kilometers away from Baguio City, where Dinosaur Island and the Holy Land are found. The Dinosaur Island Baguio is home to different species of giant reptiles that lived in our planet million of years ago. Dinosaur, many of them, you'll find them in Baguio Tourist Spots outside the city. Meanwhile, the Holy Land or Holy Land, a cloistered maze of biblical places sits next to dinosaur land. In this article, provided are directions on how to go to Dinosaur Island from Baguio City by jeepney as well as driving your car from Manila to the exact location of these new Baguio Tourist Spots.

I have to remind you this early that going there by jeepney is easy. The bad news is - returning to Baguio City is not that easy. But you will like it if you're fond of taking off-the-beaten paths. Or should I say hike your way 1 kilometer of uneven road to the highway, under the scorching sun, where it takes forever before a jeepney from different location arrives and let you ride in.

How to see Dinosaurs from bus en route to Baguio City from Manila?

You must be sitting by the window at the right side of the bus. The bus should be taking Marcos Highway. In Benguet, the bus passes through the tunnel and then it takes the viaduct from which you can have unobstructed view of these giant monsters and be dazzled at the mere sight of dinosaurs that stand in different spots of the mountain slope afar.

The interesting thing is you're trying to make out the dinosaurs which are not in an enclosed museum but out in an open sprawling side of mountain covered with woods. That kind of gives you the feel of time travel to Jurassic Period.

How to get to Dinosaur Island and the Holy Land by car from Manila?

Since these new attractions are located kilometers away before you reach Baguio City travelling from Manila by car, it is practical on your part specially for fuel economy to make a detour and visit the spot first. After all, seeing those extinct giant reptiles back from the dead is worth a detour.

Here's how to get there: After passing through the only tunnel of Marcos Highway, you will be taking a viaduct. That would be your landmark. At the end of that viaduct is a fork located at the opposite lane of Marcos highway. That means you're going to make a U-Turn anywhere past the concrete barriers towards the end of the viaduct. As soon as you are past all those concrete barriers at the left hand side of the viaduct, carefully make a U-Turn. Ideally, it's better to make the U-Turn farther from the end of the viaduct so that you'll have time to scan the view from afar. Anyways, there's a big signage and logo of Dinosaur Island located at the fork (see photo above.) Drive onto that fork which runs under the viaduct. Follow that road until you get to the uphill road left side of the main road you're taking. Make another U-turn to take that uphill road that leads to the parking lot, and of course, the site of Dinosaur Island as well as the Holy Land. Friendly reminder: Oncoming buses are speeding fast, be careful in making U-Turn.

How to commute to Dinosaur Island & Holy Land from Baguio City?

The fare is 17 pesos as of this writing. The jeepney to take has the route of "Baguio Plaza-Badiwan-Tuba-Benguet" and the signage in the terminal reads "Badiwan-Tuba."

There are four terminals of jeepneys that served Tuba. But the jeepneys that take passengers to Dinosaur Island is the one located in this terminal which is situated at the corner of Otek and Shagem streets. The terminal is right in front of Mister Donut.

How to locate this terminal from different parts of Baguio City?

From Session Rd - Walk downhill towards Magsaysay Ave where Maharlika Livelihood Complex is located. Use the pedestrian overpasses and go down at the stairs beside the building of Veniz Hotel. Walk along the left side of that road which is extension of Harrison Rd and then turn left onto the next street which is Shagem. Walk down Shagem St till you get to the corner of Otek St where Mister Donut is at the corner and the terminal at its frontage.

From Burnham Park - Exit the park at the Shanum St gate where across it Rizal Park is located. Climb up Rizal Park at its right side. Turn right onto the next street where United Church of Christ in the Philippines is located at the corner. That street is Otek. Walk down Otek St up to next corner where you will immediately see Mister Donut. The terminal is there.

From Harrison Road - Basically, you're just going to walk down the left side of Harrison Rd cross Magsaysay Blvd and turn left onto the next street which is Shagem. But because there are these interconnected pedestrian overpasses, use them and go down at Veniz Hotel, walk further and turn left onto Shagem St, walk along Shagem up to the next corner where terminal is located.

From Baliwag Grill - If you could see Baliwag from the distance, it's much easier to use the street next to it. That is Shagem St. Enter that road and walk to the next corner where the terminal is located at the right corner in front of Mister Donut.

The jeepney takes Marcos Highway flyover and traverse the whole stretch of Marcos Highway up to where the viaduct starts. It takes the fork at the right and traverse the road under the viaduct. Then it will take the uphill road that goes up to the exact location of Dinosaur Island and the Holy Land.

How to get back to Baguio City from Dinosaur Island?

You would thought that jeepneys from Baguio City arrive in regular intervals. But when I got there, it's been already two hours and no jeepneys on the sight. On the third hour of waiting, I decided to hike the path through which the jeepney I boarded had passed.

I'm sharing this to you today so that you won't get shocked if it happens to you. Maybe it's the timing. But if it does happen, just make the most out of it and enjoy the view. Because that is not all you have to endure.

The jeepney that passes by the highway takes forever to arrive. I mean you have to be very very patient while you wait. And because it's summer, the weather of the summer capital doesn't apply especially at past 3 pm. It is really hot out there.

The good news is - the jeepney will definitely arrive. It stops by the highway shoulder even if no one is alighting. The assumption is there are always passengers waiting at the area to board a jeepney bound for the city.

My tip is to have some of you get sheltered at the waiting shed next to "Badiwan Store" that you get to see as soon as you arrive in the highway while one of you is at the road side watching for the jeepney's arrival.

That's because what I had noticed was when a jeepney arrived and pulled over, locals crossed the highway and got on board. As for me, I ran fast from where I sheltered, a spot way too far from where jeepneys stop.

How To Commute To Tam-Awan Village From Baguio City

Tam-Awan Village is good for those who want to experience cultural travel with a bit of adventure on the side. Also known as Garden in the Sky, the model village is where you get to have a glimpse of traditional lives of Cordillera people. A major attraction outside the city proper of Baguio, this destination showcases Ifugao and Kalinga houses with an aim of promoting awareness for Ifugao Tribe's indigenous customs, traditions and their exquisite craftsmanship.

Luccong is an upper class Kalinga Hut in Tam-Awan Village

Ifugao and Kalinga houses as well as different native materials and instruments are perched apart from each other on various sides of the mountain. You need to climb stepped uphill trails and weedy paths that snake through dense forest to get to them.

In some areas, trail is precarious to take. Opposite the main entrance is an art gallery called Arko ni Apo. As you climb from the entrance, another gallery called Bugnay is perched on the landing adjacent to a craft and souvenir shop, and then there's the Sketching area where you can have yourself sketched by an artist. A cafe is conveniently located on a flat part of the mountain.

As you penetrate the wild uphill forest guided by common trails, you will be taken to these traditional houses that stationed in strategic locations. You get to see cottage accommodations that looked more like pigeon houses.

Yes, you heard me right. You can have an overnight stay here. It's quite an experience to live the life of our indigenous brothers and sisters, right? Well, here is your chance.

Up in the Viewing Deck, the magnificent sunset over tropical mountains can be seen. Another trail will take you to "Dream Catcher", "Gazebo 2", "Agape" and "Dukligan".

Back to the entrance, you have the option to take first the stepped path going to the "Spirit House", "Wishing Pond", "Kinakin" and "Gazebo 1" or the one which will take you to the "Bugnay Gallery", "Village Gallery", "Craft Shop" which are all connected to the "Cafe" and "Sketching" area. Restrooms are also located here.

Stepped access to different attractions inside Tam-Awan Village

Aside from cultural experience, the wild travelers' destination which is also aptly called Garden in the Sky exhibits a broad diversity of flora and fauna. So, if you are into plant and flower photography, you might like it here while enjoying cultural trip.

As of this writing, here's the costs of having an escapade in Tam-Awan Village. By that, I mean - to enjoy your time but make sure you're not doing things that would tarnish the highly revered cultural destination.

Entrance Fees: Children - Php 20. Students - Php 30. Adults - Php 50. You can get in even if you're not going to spend the night. But if you want to stay a little bit longer, here are the rates:

Lodging: 1 Person - Php 500. 2 Persons - Php 1000. Additional Person - Php 300 each. Group of 10 or more - Php 350/pax.

Picnic Fee: Available from 9am to 6pm. Php 200 for a group of 10. Additional pax - Php 20.

Use of a Hut w/o Bedding: Php 500 per day.

Big Events

Function Fee: Php 8,000. Maximum of 40 pax.

Cultural Show: Php 5,000.

Workshop: Php 450 per module per person.

How To Get To Tam-Awan Village From Baguio City Proper?

The sign in front of jeepney that you must ride should read: "Baguio Long-Long Tacay Tam-Awan Vice Versa". The terminal of these jeepneys is located at Hilltop St in Market area. Here's the walking direction. To make it more comprehensible this direction starts from Burnham Park. I also created map which you can see below this post.

Jeepney bound for Tam-Awan Village

Walk towards the only interconnected pedestrian bridges of Baguio City which is right beside the tall building of Hotel Veniz. Climb the pedestrian overpass and walk towards Hotel Veniz. You should be seeing the big mall of Abanao Square located to the right of Abanao St which continued Harrison Rd, the street below the pedestrian bridge. Go down the other side of the road and head to Abanao Square.

Abanao Square

Abanao Square is exactly located at the corner of Abanao St and Zandueta St. Turn right onto Zandueta St and walk all the way up the other corner which is Kayang St. Turn left onto Kayang St and walk to the right of the road past the small market street. Hilltop Street is the wide road to the right of Kayang Street in which to the other side of it jeepney terminal is located. Turn right onto Hilltop St and walk up to where it bends to the right. There you'll see a jeepney with "Baguio Long-Long Tacay Tam-Awan Vice Versa" wordings on its front and on its both sides. Get aboard the jeepney. See map at the end of this post.

Tam-Awan Village exterior

You don't need to ask the driver to drop you off at Tam-Awan Village. You just need to look to the right of the uphill bending road until you see the mammoth concrete fencing on the steep side of the mountain with "TAM-AWAN VILLAGE" wordings engraved on it. Get off the jeep right there. Now I need to remind you that you wouldn't wait for the same jeepney at the opposite lane of that road in going back to the city proper. It will take you forever.

How To Return To Baguio City Proper From Tam-Awan Village

Once back outside Tam-Awan Village, walk back towards the direction of Baguio City Proper. The road bends to the left. Soon you'll reach the point in which a small sloping road runs to the right of this main road. A sari-sari store is situated right at that junction. Wait for a jeepney to arrive from city proper which will make a U-Turn right there to get back to the city. There are other passengers waiting because this is exactly a loading area. During Lagalag's trip to the city of Baguio, he made sure he could be of help to other vacationists flocking the summer capital of the Philippines this peak season by making list of terminals of jeepneys that ply the routes to major destinations. Session Road is the main avenue of Baguio City where all city life happens. It is the commercial center of Baguio and the major destination for shopping, dining, banking and bar hopping. SM City Baguio is situated along upper Session Road. Baguio Cathedral can be reached from SM City via Session Road and terminals of jeepneys going to Mines View Park, Mansion House, Wright Park and Good Shepherd Convent are located here.

How to get to Camp John Hay

The jeepneys that ply the route passing by Camp John Hay is located at Burnham Park. In the map this terminal is called Bakakeng Jeepney Station. Now, I think Bakakeng Station is just one of the many

jeepney stations in this terminal. From anywhere along Session Road, e.g. SM City Baguio, Prime Hotel, Baguio Cathedral, walk downhill towards the end of the road where DBP Bank Building is located. Turn left at the corner of DBP Building. There's a KFC at ground floor of DBP Building. Now, use the pedestrian overpass to get across Harrison Road. Exactly at the foot of the stair of the footbridge is the terminal of jeepneys going to different locations. This is Bakakeng Jeepney Station. Look for jeepneys with "Baguio Plaza-Scout Barrio" sign. These jeepneys pass through a certain "crossing" as drivers told me. From this "crossing", Camp John Hay is walking distance. I never got a chance to go to Camp John Hay but I did went to other attractions such as Mines View Park, Philippine Military Academy, Mansion House, Wright Park, etc. And I will guide you to the jeepney terminals plying the route to these never to be missed spots in Baguio City.

Additional information: Next to jeepneys with "Baguio Plaza-Scout Barrio" sign are few L-300 vans with the same sign, Baguio Plaza-Scout Barrio. According to the driver of one of the van that I talked to, their route is different from the jeepneys as they pass through exact location of Camp John Hay. At any rate, you can talk to driver of either jeepney or van to find out which one pass through the excellent spot of Camp John Hay.



How to get to Philippine Military Academy

Reminder: All visitors entering PMA must have individual valid IDs. A person without a valid ID can't enter PMA. If you're in a group and you don't have ID, you will be instructed to get off the jeepney at the gate and wait for your companions with IDs while they're enjoying the tour.

In the same terminal of Bakakeng Jeepney Station is the station of jeepneys with "Baguio Plaza-KIAS-PMA-Springhills-Apugan" sign. This is the only jeepney at this terminal going directly inside PMA. From loading area of "Baguio Plaza-Scout Barrio" jeepneys, walk further up ahead until you see the sign board that read: "LOADING AREA: PMA-KIAS-SITEL-EPZA". Ride the jeep being filled up with passengers by a dispatcher.

From Burnham Park Lake. Let's say you're anywhere in the lagoon of Burnham Park. Go towards Lake Drive corner Perfecto Street. Lake Drive is the road between the Burnham Park and the football field. Just walk along Lake Drive until you see Ganza Restaurant to the right. Next to it is Perfecto Street as indicated by the road sign at the corner. From this road sign, just a few feet along Perfecto is the sign of the jeepney station bound for PMA.

The jeepney station sign read: ""LOADING AREA: PMA-KIAS-SITEL-EPZA". And beside the sign are jeepneys with "Baguio Plaza-KIAS-PMA-Springhills-Apugan" sign in front and on their both sides. Don't get worried when the jeepney get past the gate of PMA without dropping off passengers to the PMA. The jeep will just take the other passengers to the last point of the route then it will get back from the turning point to the same route. The jeep will then enter the gate of PMA, it will stop for a moment and the officers will approach to collect all IDs of passengers. Your group will be given only one gate pass ID that one of you must wear all the time while inside the PMA ground. Please read the reminders at the back of the ID to avoid embarrassment of apprehension. There are some restrictions that you must observe.

The jeepney will take you to the loading and unloading area at the main PMA Building where important attractions and facilities are located. The jeep, then, will fetch the waiting passengers and head back to Burnham Park.

There's also a souvenir shops near the drop off point. To maximize your tour of the PMA, after you take photos at this area, you can walk your way from the PMA building downhil towards the gate to see other attraction inside the camp. There are other important landmarks you get to see along the way. Then after getting your ID, you can wait for a jeepney outside the gate to get back to Burnham Park Bakakeng Jeepney Station. But if you're contented with attractions around the PMA main building, then you can just wait for a jeepney with the same sign at the loading and unloading area waiting shed. Jeepney fare to PMA from Burnham Park is 18.50 pesos per passenger.

How to get to Crystal Cave

The terminal of the jeepneys going to Crystal Cave is located at the corner of Otek and Shanum streets. From Session Road, walk downhill from SM towards the end of the road where DBP Bank Building is located at the corner. Turn left on the corner of the building. There's a KFC Restaurant at the ground floor of DBP and opposite DBP Bank Building at the other side of the road is Maharlika Livelihood Complex.

At this point, you're looking at the pedestrian walkway overpass. Use the stair at the middle of the overpass then turn right to get to the other end of the overpass. This overpass is crossing Magsaysay Avenue. Don't get down at the stair located at the end of the overpass. Instead, turn left and take another overpass walkway extending from the first footbridge to get across Harrison Road. At the end of the second footbridge is Hotel Veniz. Turn left again on another extension of the footbridge. Now, go down the stair to the right of the footbridge extension.

You're now at Shanum Street. The building at the corner of Shanum Street and Harrison Road is Hotel Veniz. Walk along Shanum street until you get to the next intersection which is Otek Street. At the opposite corner of Otek and Shanum, you will see the sign board that read "Loading Area: Crystal Cave".




From Burnham Park. Let's say you're in the lagoon area also known as Burnham Lake. Go towards Lake Drive. Lake Drive is the road between Burnham Park and the football field. Walk along Lake Drive past Ganza Restaurant until you get to corner of Lake Drive and Shanum Street. Turn right on Shanum until you get to the next street intersecting Shanum. That is Otek Street and in the corner is the terminal of jeepneys bound for Crystal Cave. Additional information: Talk to the dispatcher of the jeepney. Tell him that you're going to cave itself. Crystal Cave at the sign of the jeepney doesn't refer specifically at the cave itself. It refers to Crystal Cave Road. And majority of the passengers are residence living in different areas along Crystal Cave Road. It's important the driver knows he has passengers going to the cave so that he can drop them off at the street leading to the site of Crystal Cave. As of this time, jeepney fare to Crystal Cave is 8.50 pesos.

How to get to Lourdes Grotto

From Burnham Park, you need to get to Hotel Veniz first. The hotel is visible from Burnham Park. Get down there.

Once there, climb the pedestrian overpass to get across Harrison Road. From the overpass, you can see the Abanao Square Shopping Mall, to your left. Now, go towards that mall and turn right onto the road that borders it to its right side. That road is Zandueta Street. From Session Road, walk downhill from SM towards the end of the road where DBP Bank Building is located at the corner. Turn after you get past DBP Bank Building. There's a KFC Restaurant at the ground floor of DBP and opposite DBP Bank Building at the other side of Magsaysay Avenue, the road where Session Road ends, is Maharlika Livelihood Complex.

You need to get to the back of the Maharlika Livelihood Complex to go to the terminal of jeepneys that ply the route going to Lourdes Grotto. Here's what you do. Use the stair located at the middle of the overpass, turn right to get across Magsaysay Avenue and get down the overpass via stair located at the end of the overpass. At this point, you must be seeing the big mall of Abanao Square one block away. If not, you're in the wrong way. There's a big "Abanao Square" sign above the corner of the mall. Walk towards the Abanao Square and turn right onto the street that borders it. That road is Zandueta Street. Walk along Zandueta Street towards the next intersection which is Kayang Street.

Now, turn left on Kayang Street where you will see to the left of the road jeeneys parked side by side facing the other side of the street. These are terminals of jeepneys going to different destinations. First terminal is for jeepneys going to Guisad. Next to it is the terminal of jeepneys with the sign in front and at the side of the jeep that read: "Baguio Plaza-Dominican-Lourdes VV". This is the jeepney you must ride to get to Lourdes Grotto. Just look for the one being filled up by a dispatcher. Fare is 8.50 pesos.

How to get to Good Shepherd Convent and Mines View Park

People going up to Baguio City never miss to go to Good Shepherd Convent to buy different preserved native products made by the nuns to generate money for different charities sponsored by Good Shepherd Convent. My favorite is the Ube Preserves. It's so yummy and the best I ever tasted. Good Shepherd Convent and Mines View Park is near to each other. Just a stone throw away. In fact, the terminal of jeepney going to Mines View is located near gate of Good Shepherd Convent.

The sign of jeepneys going to Mines View Park is "Baguio Plaza-Mines View VV". Their terminal is along Mabini (lower) Street near corner Session Road, opposite McDonald's (now gone). Your new landmark is the City Center Hotel which is located at the other side of Session Rd corner Upper Mabini St. To get to the terminal from upper Session Road, e.g. SM City Baguio, Prime Hotel, Victory Liner, Baguio Cathedral, walk along the left hand side of Session Road until you get to Lower Mabini St which is the last street before the end tip of Session Rd and it is downhill from the corner of Session Rd. Turn left onto (Lower) Mabini Street. Located at the right hand side of Mabini is the terminal of "Baguio Plaza-Mines View VV" jeepneys.

From Burnham Park, walk across Lake Drive, the road between Burnham Park and Football Field. Then go to Harrison Road, the road where interconnecting overpasses are located. Don't cross Harrison Road via overpass. Instead, from the stair of the overpass, walk along Harrison Road and get across the other side where a BPI Bank is located. That street is Mabini. And the terminal of jeepneys going to Mines View is located near opposite end, which is corner Session Road.

Alternatively, walk across the football field toward Melvin Jones Grandstand, go up the grandstand and exit at Harrison Rd where you can easily walk across toward Mabini St. Then, just walk your way up the uphill Mabini Street from the corner of Harrison Rd until you get to the terminal of jeepneys bound for Mines View, to the left of Mabini Street. Addional information: If you're going to Good Shepherd Convent aside from Mines View Park, ask the dispatcher if the jeepneys you're going to ride is via Gibraltar Road. There's also different route going to Mines View Park but most of the time the jeepneys pass through Gibraltar. Still, you need to make sure.




How to get to Mansion House and Wright Park

If you're fond of horseback riding, you will like it there at Wright Park. Mansion House, the official summer of Philippine President, is located next to it. You can get to Mansion House from Wright Park via stairs that goes directly to the landscaped walkway with a distance of approximately 330 meters from the stair to the gate of the Mansion House.

Ride a jeepney going to Mines View Park and get off at Wright Park.

If you want to go directly to the gate of Mansion House, ask the dispatcher if the jeepney he's filling up is via Gibraltar. If it does, don't ride it because it won't pass by the Mansion House. Try the next jeepney.





How to get to Botanical Garden, Panagbenga Park and Sunshine Park

These three parks are located near to Baguio Plaza. Just ride a jeepney going to PMA or Mines View Park and ask driver to drop you off at any of these spots.
